Privacy is non-negotiable in sales tech. Understand exactly what data Klipy accesses, how we protect your LinkedIn account, and why our privacy-first approach actually makes you more effective at social selling.

What Data Klipy Accesses

LinkedIn Information We Read

Profile Data

  • First name, last name, profile photo

  • Current job title and company

  • Public work experience and education

  • LinkedIn profile URL and public bio

Message Data (Real-Time Only)

  • LinkedIn DM conversations from connected accounts

  • Message timestamps and read receipts

  • Conversation thread history and participants

  • Message status indicators (sent, delivered, read, delted)

Activity Data

  • Your posts, comments, and engagement metrics

  • Public interaction history with your network

What We DON'T Access

Personal Information: Home address, phone numbers, personal email
Third-Party Data: Information from other social platforms
Login Credentials: We never store your LinkedIn password

Real-Time Sync vs Data Storage

How Our System Works

  • Real-Time Processing: Messages sync to Klipy as they occur on LinkedIn

  • Temporary Caching: Data held briefly in memory for speed and performance

  • No Permanent Storage: Conversation data is NOT saved to our databases

  • Immediate Release: All data purged when you disconnect your account

Why We Don't Store Conversations

  • Privacy Protection: Your LinkedIn messages remain private by default

  • Data Security: Can't lose what we don't permanently store

What Happens to Your Data

During Active Use:

  • Messages cached and processed in real-time for CRM integration

  • Activity metrics updated hourly with 1-hour retention

When You Disconnect:

  • All cached LinkedIn data immediately purged from our systems

  • Contact records retain all information (name, company) but lose LinkedIn connection

  • Enrichment summaries remain as static memos in contact history

  • No residual LinkedIn data stored anywhere in our infrastructure

Team Visibility Controls

What Team Members See

  • Contact Information: Basic profile details (name, title, company)

  • Interaction Summaries: "Had LinkedIn conversation on [date]" timeline entries

  • Deal Context: How LinkedIn interactions relate to pipeline progression

What Team Members DON'T See

Message Content: Full text of your LinkedIn conversations
Personal Networks: Your casual LinkedIn connections
Social Activity: Specific posts you liked, commented on, or shared

Account Safety & LinkedIn Compliance

How We Protect Your LinkedIn Account

Is Klipy an official LinkedIn tool

No, we're not affiliated with LinkedIn. We're a third-party tool that helps you engage with your network. However:

  • We use the safest connection method possible

  • You control all activities

  • You can remove access anytime

  • 95% of the tools you know (big logos, too) are 3rd party tools. Some are just less transparent about how they connect to LinkedIn.

Anti-Suspicious Activity Measures

  • Rate Limiting: Automatic delays prevent excessive API calls

  • Human-Like Patterns: Message sending follows natural timing patterns

  • Cache Intervals: 1-hour activity updates prevent over-querying

  • Manual Oversight: Critical actions require explicit user confirmation

Account Monitoring

  • Real-time detection of LinkedIn API rate limit warnings

  • Automatic throttling when approaching usage limits

  • Immediate backoffs if LinkedIn flags unusual activity

  • Graceful degradation to protect your account status

Why using a separate session is the most secure way

Every time you log into LinkedIn - whether from your phone, laptop, different browser, or work computer - you create what's called a "session". LinkedIn expects you to have multiple sessions and considers this normal activity.

Most LinkedIn users have multiple sessions (from work, from home, from their phone); it's normal.

When Klipy connects to LinkedIn:

  • We create a new session, just like logging in from another device

  • Your session gets an IP from your location

  • LinkedIn sees this as normal activity, like you have logged in from a different browser or work computer

  • It's much more secure than using your existing session with Chrome extension

How is it different from other tools like FolkX or Chrome Extensions:

Some tools use Chrome extensions instead of asking for your login. While this seems more convenient (they do not need your password and connect seamlessly), it's actually less safe for two reasons:

Chrome extensions

  • LinkedIn actively scans for Chrome extensions

  • It is easily detectable from their side

  • It is proven that they track over 1,000 known automation extensions

Session copying

  • When tools use Chrome extensions or session cookies, they clone your existing browser session

  • LinkedIn sees your browser suddenly duplicating itself

  • It is a very unusual activity and can be easily detected

Easily revoke access anytime

  • You can disconnect Klipy anytime right from LinkedIn. You don't need to log into Klipy to do that - manage access directly from LinkedIn here

  • You can enable 2-step verification (2FA) for extra security. Even though you share your password with Klipy, we can only log in if you provide the code from SMS, email, or app

Using with other LinkedIn tools

You can use Klipy alongside other LinkedIn tools. However:

  • Carefully respect daily limits across all tools

  • Don't connect too many tools at once

Privacy Controls You Control

"Ongoing Lead" vs "Casual Network"

  • Ongoing Lead: Opt-in to conversation tracking and CRM integration

  • Casual Network: LinkedIn connection preserved, but no data tracking

  • Easy Toggle: Change status anytime without losing contact information

Granular Monitoring Control

  • Choose which contacts get conversation tracking

  • Pause monitoring temporarily without disconnecting

  • Selective data sharing for sensitive relationships

Common Privacy Questions

"Will LinkedIn know I'm using Klipy?"

LinkedIn is aware that third-party tools can access their platform through unofficial "Voyager" APIs. Your activity appears normal to LinkedIn—you're still sending messages and viewing profiles as usual, just with better organization.

"Can my prospects tell I'm using a CRM tool?"

No. Your LinkedIn messages and interactions appear exactly as they would if sent directly through LinkedIn. There are no visible indicators that you're using Klipy.

"What if LinkedIn changes their privacy policies?"

We monitor LinkedIn policy updates continuously and adjust our integration immediately to maintain compliance. Users are notified of any changes that affect their data processing.

"Can I use this for personal LinkedIn accounts?"

Yes, but we recommend only tracking business-related conversations. Use the "Casual Network" status for personal connections to maintain appropriate privacy boundaries.

"What happens if my LinkedIn account gets restricted?"

Klipy's compliance measures minimize this risk, but if restrictions occur, we provide support to resolve issues and prevent future problems.

Klipy is committed to privacy-first social selling. Our integration protects your LinkedIn account while maximizing your sales effectiveness through responsible data processing.
